Kindred Spirits

"Marilla is a famous cook. She is trying to teach me to cook but I assure you, Diana, it is uphill work. There's so little scope for imagination in cookery. You just have to go by the rules. The last time I made a cake I forgot to put the flour in."

Prayer for the Schindler Family

My heart goes out to the Schindler family as they grieve the loss of their beloved daughter. I love this excerpt from the Puritan prayer, "Valley of Vision". My prayer is that this rings true for Terri's family.

"Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter Thy stars shine; let me find Thy light in my darkness, Thy life in my death, Thy joy in my sorrow, Thy grace in my sin, Thy riches in my poverty, Thy glory in my valley."

Terri

I just saw the post at The Banty Rooster about Terry Schiavo. I knew, short of a miracle of intervention, she was going to die soon. But it still horrifies me down to the pit of my stomach: America just became a place where a person can be legally starved to death. When I think how hungry I get skipping one single meal, I can't even imagine going 13 days without food.

The last couple weeks, as I've been praying about this situation, this verse came to mind over and over: "I am the resurrection and the life." Death seems to loom dark just now - this decision didn't just affect Terri, but all of us. But it's hit home like never before how Christ is my only hope in life and death; that if I have been crucified with Christ, I will be raised with him. Suddenly the resurrection seems powerfully real.

Someone take this keyboard away from me!

This is what my morning has consisted of: Come into work, look at our NEW BLOG, think about something insightful to post, look to see if anyone has posted/commented on our NEW BLOG, bring up my code editor, work on our programming for our NEW BLOG instead of programming for work, eat payday treats, check our NEW BLOG again, more programming, eat another doughnut, talk about Survivor with fellow geeks, try to read document for work but instead let my mind wander to think about our NEW BLOG, go to meeting, surf for blogging ideas...

Is it lunch yet?

Who's idea was this silly blog anyway?? *wink*

Hooray!

I'm so excited to have our own blog - Andrea really got me psyched about it yesterday. :) Hey, now we have a place to post all our yahoo messenger artwork... Melodee, you should have seen our "plans" for your luau. They were brilliant!

OK, I have nothing too exciting to post. But I watched a little bit of Lonsome Dove last night, and, since we're going to be romantic (?!) on this blog, I must say...what did any girl see in Jake Spoon to begin with? The man has about as much charm as pig. (No, not that much - Gus's pigs are pretty cute.) I can imagine how bad it would smell sharing a tent with him! Of course, none of those guys were very clean, but they at least worked hard...

To get things rolling, here's a picture of the love of Andrea's life. Meet Cache, everyone.  Posted by Hello

Welcome Kindred Spirits!

Since we never tire of chatting with each other in real life, we'd better keep it up in the virtual world! Kindred Spirits is a blog for us to discuss our favorite funny silly things and to commune as, well, Kindred Spirits.
So, pull up an office chair and join in the dreamy, romantic musings of the Anne girls.

"Will you swear to be my friend forever and ever?" demanded Anne eagerly. Diana looked shocked.
"Why, it's dreadfully wicked to swear," she said rebukingly.
"Oh no, not my kind of swearing. There are two kinds, you know."
"I've never heard of but one kind," said Diana doubtfully.
"There really is another. Oh, it isn't wicked at all. It just means vowing and promising solemnly."
"Well, I don't mind doing that," agreed Diana, relieved. "How do you do it?"
"We must join hands - so," said Anne gravely. "It ought to be over running water. We'll just imagine this path is running water. I'll repeat the oath first. I solemnly swear to be faithful to my bosom friend, Diana Barry, as long as the sun and moon shall endure."
