Kindred Spirits

"Marilla is a famous cook. She is trying to teach me to cook but I assure you, Diana, it is uphill work. There's so little scope for imagination in cookery. You just have to go by the rules. The last time I made a cake I forgot to put the flour in."

It's not often...

that the Dep't of Motor Vehicles makes my day, but today they did. I called to see if they could accept credit card payment over the phone (today is the last day to renew my car registration by), and the helpful clerk directed me to the county website and told me exactly where to find the online renewal form. It took all of two minutes to renew. And here I was fearing I would have to go down to the DMV...

Isn't it great how Yellowstone County has caught up with 21st-century technology? ;-)

With or Without You

Girls, I've been very remiss... So Rie started an English blog this week, and I meant to post the link for you right away, but it has been a couple days. There are several posts on it already, but not so many that you can't go and catch up :)

Click here to enjoy With or Without You.

Another Proposal

...from a book, that is. I had a cold all of last week and didn't feel up to doing much (including work), but did read quite a bit of a few short notes on tropical butterflies (from the Barnes & Noble bargain table). The first story, "The Hill Station," is about a 40-something cholera-expert visiting India. She receives this proposal from the young man sitting next to her on the bus:
"Let me put my assests clearly," he said. "Number one. I am having a good education, primary and secondary. At school, I received the Joginder Reddy Sugar Factory Gold Medal for standing first in my class. Number two. I am healthy and take daily exercise. I am a useful cricketer. Number three. I am keen in computers. I keep myself updated on hardware and software up gradations. Number four. I do painting - oil - and watercolors, as well as cartooning and sketching. I am also good at photography. Number five. I am not a bad-looking man. People have told me that I look like Mr. Imran Khan the great Pakistani cricketeer. Please take this summary."

That just kills me every time I read it. It must be the romantic in me (or because software "up gradations" reminds me of Uganda). :)

Maybe...

I was googling the hexagon identity this morning and I came across this blog site that had this really cool thing called a neo counter. It is a unique web counter that displays the number of visitors by country. Would this be something we would like on our blog? Here is the link.

Mr. March

Doesn't he look like he belongs in a Calendar?

I decided to post a picture along with this post to tell everyone that I'm on a blogging hiatus. (In case you couldn't tell already) I've decided that 50-60 hours a week in front of a computer is MORE then enough and I am instead using my spare time for hikes with Mr. March, Lost re-runs and keeping up on my reading list that my sister keeps adding to. The computer pixels are eating away my soul and I haven't had any to desire lately to blog(either read OR publish). Maybe in a month or two, when work dies down and my soul grows back, I'll be up for it. In the meantime, happy blogging everyone! Don't miss me too much. ;)

Eat a Crocodile

This has probably been posted about on KS before, but I this evening I just had a burning desire for some Shakespearean insusults.

So...eat a crocodile, thou beslubbering bat-fowling harpy.

I don't think I want to know what they all mean...
