We're celebrating today (Friday) sans turkey. We thought we'd like a good steak instead. Guess what I'm making for starters? (to go along with our jalapeno poppers from Costco) My (in)famous hot artichoke dip! Since I have to grate my own parmesan, I have every hope I'll be able to avoid dumping it all over the nice tablecloth...

Mmm, I miss your artichoke dip! And all the associated memories; it just isn't the same without mishap, is it? :) Not sure why, but I am completely amazed you can get "normal" Costco stuff over there.

ps - did you take pictures of your dinner?

    no pictures, sorry.

Actually, they weren't called jalapeno "poppers," and they didn't taste *quite* like they do at home...but close enough. The dip turned out very well. The men cooked the meal and served us, which was very nice. We had steak, asparagus cooked with garlic and pine nuts and cheesy mashed potatoes. For dessert we had creme brulee. There were lots of other things for dessert too, but we couldn't fit any of them in.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to find pumpkin here, so we had no pumpkin pie. (Deb tried to bring us some, but they confiscated it at the Billings airport).

That all sounds delicious, even the not-quite jalepeno poppers! I haven't had asparagus in months.

Sorry about the pumpkin, though. What *do* you have there? Cranberries? Walnuts? I guess any kind of ethnic food, other than traditional American Thanksgiving stuff, would be available...
